Pet of the Month

Meet Cooper Goodwin!

October 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our October 2026 Pet of the Month, Cooper Goodwin!

Some pets find their way into our lives at exactly the right time, and Cooper is living proof…

Cooper’s story began in 2011 (or maybe 2012), when her mom was volunteering with a local cat rescue. A petite tuxedo kitty named Amy kept getting passed over for adoption, but something about her tugged at her future mom’s heart. One photo sent to her partner received the familiar response: “Bring her home.” And just like that, she became the third of four rescue kitties they would adopt over ten years. As Mom says, “I think that shows great restraint!”

Her new name came naturally. With a tiny head that seemed hilariously out of proportion to her body, she reminded her family of a Mini Cooper. And so, Cooper she became!

As it turns out, her adoption may have saved her life. The morning after arriving home, Cooper developed a fever of 104°F. After a visit to Tuscawilla Oaks, she returned home, only to wake up the following morning with a fever of 105°F! She spent the next three days in our care until her mysterious fever finally resolved. Had she still been living among the rescue cats, her illness might have gone unnoticed. Her family believes she was meant to come home that day. ❤️

Today, Cooper is a sweet, wonderfully quirky girl with plenty of cattitude.

She’s apparently a mime in a former life, because when she meows, her mouth moves but nothing comes out (aside from an occasional chirp). She LOVES boxes of every shape and size and even celebrated her Pet of the Month nomination by sitting proudly in her “Thankful Box.”

She also has a rather unfortunate appetite for plastic and ribbons. As Mom puts it, “The heck with the world and microplastics, she is a tiny body of macroplastics!”

But Cooper’s greatest superpower? Her ninja-level ability to detect an impending veterinary visit. According to her mom, “If someone in Georgia moves a cat carrier, she knows it.” She can sense an appointment a week in advance and immediately begins plotting her escape.

And medication? Forget about it. Cooper is ten pounds of twisting, twirling, flipping, flopping, rabbit-punching resistance. She’s even earned the distinction of being one of the few cats Dr. Fullenwider couldn’t pill!

During a recent round of antibiotics, her family finally achieved success after two days, four attempts, and approximately twelve techniques. Unfortunately, their winning streak lasted only five days. Treatment was discontinued because, according to Mom, Cooper reported them to PETA. 🤣

Despite her shenanigans, Cooper is endlessly adored. Whether she’s perched above her family’s heads in a distinguished Sphinx pose, marching across them in bed to demand breakfast, or delivering head butts when her demands go unanswered, she keeps life entertaining and full of love.

“At the end of the day, we love our little girl. We love our Mini Cooper.”

Meet TITUS ROSNER!

September 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our September 2026 Pet of the Month, Titus Rosner!

Titus was adopted by his family through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida when he was three and a half years old, less than a year into his parents’ marriage. As it turns out, the “Labrador Retriever” part was a bit of a technicality, since a DNA test later revealed that Titus is actually mostly Catahoula Leopard Dog and Plott Hound!

Titus quickly became his parents first “child.” Independent but deeply devoted to his people, he was there as the family grew and eventually welcomed a human brother and sister into his pack.

In his younger days, Titus was quite the adventurer, jumping over gates, opening doors, and even leaping over backyard bushes while chasing squirrels 🐿 and lizards 🦎 along the fence. He definitely knew how to keep his family on their toes!

These days, at 12 years young, Titus prefers life at a slightly more leisurely pace and has become a familiar face here at TOAH during his senior years. He still enjoys strolling through the neighborhood (provided the mail truck isn’t around) and taking rides on Grandpa’s pontoon boat with his ears flapping in the breeze. 🛥

Titus has been beside his family through so many chapters of their lives, growing right along with them from newlyweds to a family of four. He is incredibly loved, and we’re so happy to celebrate this sweet senior gentleman as our September Pet of the Month!

By all accounts, Titus truly is the very best boy. 💜🐾💚

Meet coco & kiki Read!

August 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our August 2026 Pets of the Month, Coco & Kiki Read!

Coco’s story with his mom started with a simple email from Dr. Fullenwider: “Want a pup?”

After losing her beloved PNut, Coco came into his mom’s life at just the right time. But despite training classes and trying just about everything to help with his separation anxiety, something was still missing.

Turns out, that “something” had four legs and a name: Kiki! 🐶

After a drive south to meet her, Kiki hopped in the car and came home. And the rest is history. Coco and Kiki quickly became inseparable, and with his new best friend by his side, Coco’s separation anxiety disappeared.

Now these two do everything together, including trips to TOAH and even the groomer! Having two Shih Tzus was a whole new adventure for their mom, and we’ve loved getting to help along the way with everything from learning the quirks of the breed to keeping track of whose appointment is next.

Two high-maintenance pups? Maybe. 😉
Two very loved pups who found exactly what they needed in each other? Absolutely.

We’re so happy to celebrate Coco & Kiki Read as our Pets of the Month! 💜🐾

Meet Kibbles Martin!

July 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our July 2026 Pet of the Month, Kibbles Martin!

Kibbles first wandered into his family’s life as the friendly neighborhood cat who loved stopping by whenever they were outside by the pool. He quickly became a daily visitor, and since he always seemed hungry, they started feeding him—fittingly, Kibbles ‘n Bits!

The Martins posted signs throughout the neighborhood hoping to find his family, but no one ever came forward. A visit to Tuscawilla Oaks Animal Hospital confirmed he wasn’t microchipped, and that’s when they knew he had found his forever home. His name, of course, was an easy choice!

Kibbles quickly developed a funny little habit—when he’s inside, he wants to be outside, and when he’s outside, he wants to come back in. Around his house, he’s affectionately known as “Mr. In & Out.” He’s also famous for his incredibly loud, expressive meow (voice that’s well known by the entire TOAH team).

Kibbles may have started out as a stray looking for his next meal, but today he’s a cherished member of his family. His big personality, constant conversations, and loving nature have made him a favorite with everyone who meets him. His family is so grateful that he found them, and they can’t imagine life without the very vocal Mr. In & Out!

Meet Lola Jones!

June 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our May 2026 Pet of the Month, Lola Jones!

Lola is a beautiful 6-year-old German Shepherd with a smile that can brighten anyone’s day. She was adopted at just 10 months old and has been filling her family’s life with love ever since. Her humans describe her as the sweetest girl around, always ready to share gentle kisses and endless affection.

When she’s not soaking up love from her family, you’ll usually find Lola doing what she loves most: chasing a ball! 🎾 (Bonus points if it squeaks!) She also enjoys racing around the yard with her brother and joining her family on all sorts of adventures, whether that’s splashing in the water, exploring new places, or simply spending time together.

While Lola may be a little shy during her visits to the hospital, we know what a special girl she is, and we’re honored to be part of her care team. ❤️

Meet harry dowdy!

May 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our May 2026 Pet of the Month, Harry Dowdy!

Meet Harry, a feisty 2-year-old Jack Russell–Dachshund mix with a big personality packed into a slightly chunky body.

He’s incredibly friendly and smart, always on the hunt for treats, and proudly serves as the neighborhood’s

official “bark at everything” watchdog.

A true TOAH Day-Play favorite, Harry loves making new friends and keeping a close eye on absolutely nothing at all.

He brings nonstop energy, charm, and love everywhere he goes! 🐾

Meet Maris Valin!

April 2026 Pet of the Month

Congratulations to our April 2026 Pet of the Month, Maris Valin!

Hi, I’m Maris! I’m an English Bulldog, and I’m turning 1 year old on April 4th!

I love sunbathing, going for rides in the car, and spending time with all my puppy friends (and humans!) at Tuscawilla Oaks. I can’t name all of my favorites, but they definitely know who they are!

I’m especially excited for summer to get here so I can enjoy lots of fun playtime in the water!

I’m just a happy girl, always ready to give plenty of licks and those classic love nibbles (if you know, you know)!

Please help us wish Maris a very Happy 1st Birthday! We heart you, Maris!
